Born from a research started by the designer Theodore Waddell in 1956, the 714 table by Cassina stands out as a cornerstone of tables with light supporting structures, based on the architecture of the tensile structure. For its realization, its creator studied the advanced systems of the American Buckminster Fuller, making his own formulas. Thanks to these, in 1972 he could realized a type of configuration where, for the first time, it was possible to create pieces of furniture through the use of cables. The model has six legs, three of which are suspended, which act as a support for the upper glass top. The other three rest on the ground despite being separated from the floor. The resulting formal and aesthetic balance is unparalleled, making this product iconic for its sculptural impact.
