Futurist style and rigorous expression of simplicity, the Newson Aluminum chair is the quintessence of a design that is not afraid to dare, going so far as to test the resistance of the materials down to the minimum terms. Marc Newson designs it taking inspiration from the cantilever seats of the precursor Mies van der Rohe, designing a highly innovative model about ninety years later. This seat is modeled using die-cast aluminium to which nylon plates, polyester thread and thermoplastic elastomer are added. Combined, all these components create a chair that lends itself well to home furnishings but also to contract use. Available in different finishes and colors, each of which is chosen to enhance its intrinsic and formal quality to the maximum.

Landed in the United States at the beginning of the ‘30s, Hans Knoll, a young German-born son of a furniture-maker in Stuttgart, proposed to import into the new continent the modern European design, contemporary heritage of the Bauhaus. Died prematurely, his work was continued by his wife, Florence Knoll, who succeeded in establishing lasting partnerships with some of the greatest exponents of the modernist movement. Few years later the Knoll Associates was founded. Today, Knoll is not only a company of re-selling historic furnishings of great artistic value, but continues to innovate by offering creations of the major international design brands both in the home area and in the office furnitures sector.Read more

Marc Newson
Marc Newson (1963-) is one of the most prominent figures on the contemporary international design scene. Born in Australia, he studied sculpture and jewelry design in Sydney and then became interested in furniture design, proposing individual exhibitions for his self-produced creations such as the famous Lockheed Lounge chaise longue (1986). His works of this early period already contain a sum of what will be his peculiar stylistic code, based on fluid forms imbued with biomorphism and enriched with futuristic accents. Cosmopolitan designer, he worked for a long time first in Tokyo and then in Paris, before finally settling in London. He achieved great international fame in the early 90s thanks to his creations for important Italian brands such as Flos, Magis, Moroso and, above all, Cappellini, the first Western company to have the courage to bet on him. Over the years he leaves furniture design in the background and focuses on collaborations with major international brands, working on special projects for Louis Vuitton, Ford, Airbus and playing a central role as a design consultant for Apple. In parallel, his work on limited series reaches a real status-cult, with his creations that reach millionaire prices at auctions all over the world, so much so that he becomes the only designer represented by Gagosian, one of the most important galleries in the world contemporary art to the world.Read more
