Knoll
Smalto Dining Table
Round
Price € 5.283,00
Smalto is a table made entirely of glazed steel, born from the idea of Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for Knoll. Available in different sizes to adapt to different spaces and needs, it has a steel upper part with a porcelain glazed finish so as to resist scratches and wear very well, while the tubular steel legs stand out for their solidity and massive presence. The distinctly sophisticated appearance, as well as the desired rigor of the proportions make the Smalto Table an extremely versatile piece of furniture, capable of combining classicist hints with much more modern rationalist trends. Enchanting in any environment, it manages to coordinate with any style.

Landed in the United States at the beginning of the ‘30s, Hans Knoll, a young German-born son of a furniture-maker in Stuttgart, proposed to import into the new continent the modern European design, contemporary heritage of the Bauhaus. Died prematurely, his work was continued by his wife, Florence Knoll, who succeeded in establishing lasting partnerships with some of the greatest exponents of the modernist movement. Few years later the Knoll Associates was founded. Today, Knoll is not only a company of re-selling historic furnishings of great artistic value, but continues to innovate by offering creations of the major international design brands both in the home area and in the office furnitures sector.Read more
Designed by
Barber Osgerby
Edward Barber (1969-) and Jay Osgerby (1969-) are the founders of the Barber Osgerby studio, one of the most important names in contemporary British design. They met while studying at the Royal College of Art in London and shared their entire career together, which began in 1996 with the creation of a table for the famous London brand Isokon. Their style, of a refined minimalism often tempered by soft curved lines, was soon noticed by the most fruitful talent scout in the world of international design, Giulio Cappellini. Their creations for Cappellini will open the doors of great Italian and international industry to them, with collaborations with brands such as B&B Italia, Vitra, AXOR, Dedon and many others. Their prominent position in the world of British design is evidenced by the most important public project assigned to them: the Olympic Torch for the London 2012 Games. Their creations are part of the collections of important museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the MoMA in New York and the Art Institute in Chicago.Read more
