Nemo
An unconventional destination bringing together creations by great 20th-century architects and works by contemporary designers.
Nemo was founded in 1993 by Franco Cassina and Carlo Forcolini to provide the Cassina company with a partner specialising in high-end lighting, capable of producing lamps that combine exceptional quality with captivating design.
Initially, Nemo’s collection featured numerous re-editions of iconic designs from the past, alongside original models developed in collaboration with some of the most prestigious international designers. Through these collections, Nemo established itself as a true expression of authorial lighting, bringing together some of the most influential names in design and architecture, including Le Corbusier and Franco Albini.
After spending several years under the name Nemo Cassina, the company became independent and, under the leadership of Federico Palazzari, gradually evolved into an internationally renowned player in the lighting industry. Its collections now include iconic re-editions of Le Corbusier’s celebrated designs, such as Lampe de Marseille, Borne Béton and Projecteur.
The contemporary collection offers an extensive range of table lamps, floor lamps, pendant lights and wall lights. The styles are remarkably diverse, giving each designer the freedom to express their own distinctive creative vision. From the gentle irony of Javier Mariscal’s Mr. Light to the refined luxury of the Crown Major chandelier by design duo Jehs+Laub, and the minimalist aesthetic of Ilaria Marelli’s Ara lamp, each creation reflects a unique design language.
Among the great masters whose designs have been reissued by Nemo, alongside the previously mentioned Le Corbusier and Franco Albini, are such distinguished figures as Charlotte Perriand, Kazuhide Takahama and Vico Magistretti. The latter’s Claritas lamp holds a special place in his career, as it was his very first lighting design.
The contemporary roster is equally impressive, bringing together an extensive selection of renowned international designers, including Mario Bellini, Norman Foster, Carlo Colombo, Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, Giancarlo Fassina and many others.
In 2020, Nemo acquired ILTI Luce, the historic Turin-based lighting company specialising in innovative architectural lighting solutions for the museum, retail and outdoor sectors. Around the same period, it also acquired a majority stake in Reggiani Illuminazione, a longstanding name in the architectural lighting industry, founded in Brianza in 1957.
With these two strategic additions, Nemo further strengthened its design and engineering capabilities, gaining an internationally recognised portfolio of expertise in one of the lighting industry’s key segments: high-end retail.
In 2024, Nemo further strengthened its position in the international design landscape with the acquisition of FontanaArte and Driade, two iconic names in contemporary design. In 2026, it entered into a strategic alliance with Kettal, a company specialising in outdoor furniture and accessories.
The Group’s four companies – Nemo Lighting, ILTI Luce, Reggiani and FontanaArte – operate as independent entities, while benefiting from a broader framework of collaboration that fosters mutual growth and shared development.
Today, headquartered in Milan, with subsidiaries in France and the United States, Nemo boasts a distribution network spanning more than 80 countries.
