Arihiro Miyake
Arihiro Miyake (1975–) is a Japanese designer specializing in lighting and best known for his collaboration with the Italian brand Nemo. His education began in Japan at Kobe Design University and continued in Finland with a master’s degree at Aalto University. Active since 2004 with his own studio based in Helsinki—after working at the office of Finnish designer Ilkka Suppanen—Miyake has also developed notable interior design projects, including the successful Tooth Tooth restaurant in Tokyo and a popular bakery in Osaka. His first major international success in product design came in 2015 with the Coppélia chandelier produced by Moooi, featuring delicate, stripped-back forms that fully exploit the expressive potential of the LED revolution taking hold in those years. The same pared-down yet often dynamic aesthetic is also evident in the many lamps he has designed for Nemo.
