David Law (1937-2003) was an American designer who linked most of his career to the Italians Lella and Massimo Vignelli, great masters of graphic design active mainly in the USA. Born in Pennsylvania and graduated from the Art Center of Design in Los Angeles, Davids Law began working in 1967 at the Unimark communication agency founded a few years earlier by the Vignellis together with Bob Noorda and other important partners. Their paths temporarily separated starting from the early 1970s, a decade in which Law carried out various activities including that of head of packaging design for the J.C. department store chain Penney of New York. In 1978 he joined Vignelli Associates, founded by Lella and Massimo after their farewell to Unimark. He remained there for over twenty years, reaching the role of Senior Vice President for product design. In this role he will have the opportunity to conceive (and sometimes co-sign) together with the owners of the studio, furnishings for important brands such as Acerbis and Knoll.
