EOOS

EOOS is an Austrian design studio founded in Vienna in 1995 by Gernot Bohmann (1968-), Harald Gründl (1967-) and Martin Bergmann (1963-). The three met while studying in Vienna under the guidance of the Italian Paolo Piva at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and share a recognisable functionalist poetics. "We are fascinated by how much emotion can be derived from rationality", Gernot Bohmann once declared, an expression that perfectly describes their aesthetic. The EOOS studio – whose name is taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses – has established itself over the years as one of the most appreciated signatures in German design with collaborations with brands such as Walter Knoll, Duravit and Bulthaup and prestigious collaborations with international brands such as Hermann Miller, Poltrona Frau and Carl Hansen & Søn, often focusing in particular on the field of office chairs. In 2004 they were awarded a Compasso d’Oro for the design of the Kube auditorium seats produced by Matteograssi.
