Giopato & Coombes

Giopato & Coombes is a designer duo made up of the Italian Cristiana Giopato (1978–) and the Englishman Christopher Coombes (1979–), best known for the highly theatrical lighting pieces produced and distributed under their eponymous brand. Cristiana Giopato, originally from Treviso, worked for many years at Patricia Urquiola’s studio, while Christopher Coombes gained significant experience in Milan at the studios of British designers such as George Sowden and Sébastien Bergne. Their first collaborations date back to 2004 and, ten years later, culminated in the founding of their own studio. Refined and visually striking—yet grounded in an alluring, poetic sensibility—Giopato & Coombes’ precious pendant lamps have grown steadily in popularity over the years, leading the studio to compete directly with major lighting brands with decades-long histories. Beyond lighting, Giopato & Coombes also works on compelling interior design projects around the world. In the past, they have designed products for leading Italian brands such as Living Divani, Miniforms, Oluce, and Varaschin.
