Massimo Iosa Ghini

Massimo Iosa Ghini
Massimo Iosa Ghini (1959-) is an Italian architect and designer. In his youth he was one of the founders of the Bolidismo movement, which had its epicenter in his native Bologna and which was part of the avant-garde experiments that characterized Italian design in those years and which were led by the Memphis group of Ettore Sottsass, which soon also Iosa Ghini was called to collaborate. The theoretical conceptualization of Bolidismo (which can appear excessively enthusiastic and naive if viewed today with a detached eye) was heavily influenced by Futurism, while the forms proposed by the movement recalled those of the American Streamlining of the 1950s with its fluid, rounded shapes and dynamics that will remain a constant in the production of Iosa Ghini even in his maturity. The foundation of the Iosa Chini Associati studio dates back to 1990, which will specialize in the creation of exhibition showrooms and commercial spaces working all over the world for brands such as Fiorucci, Ferrari and Maserati. In the field of furniture design, one of his first and most fruitful collaborations is with Moroso, but over the years he will also have the opportunity to design products for Poltrona Frau, Natuzzi Italia, Paolo Castelli and, in the past, Cassina.
