Paolo Nava

Paolo Nava (1943–) is an Italian designer best known for having been, for several years, a partner of Italian design star Antonio Citterio during the early phase of Citterio’s career. Born in Seregno, Nava studied at the Politecnico di Milano and later furthered his education in Florence. Early in his career he worked in England at various architecture and design studios before, in 1972, co-founding the Citterio–Nava studio. For a decade, the two designers were protagonists of a new, fruitful season of Italian design, creating products with clean, reassuring forms and solid commercial success. Among the duo’s key collaborations, first and foremost was their work with B&B Italia, which resulted in several successful upholstered collections, including the iconic Diesis sofa, as well as partnerships with top-tier brands such as Flexform and Boffi. From 1982 onward, Paolo Nava continued his work independently, designing for brands including Arflex, Riva 1920, Binova, and many others.
