Shin Azumi (1965-) is one of the most important contemporary Japanese designers. He studied at the Royal College of Art in London and here he opened his own design studio in 1995 in collaboration with his then wife, Tomo Azumi (1966-). Starting from 2005 the paths of the two separated: Tomoko will go to found the TNA Studio, while Shin will continue his activity as a designer on his own. His most famous creations, pervaded by the simplicity of a minimalism steeped in poetry, were created for the Italian brand Lapalma. Other important collaborations are those with the French brand Coedition and with the Swedes of Authentics, in addition to the creations for Desalto, Isokon Plus, Muji, iGuzzini and many others. In 2016 Shin returned to Japan after many years and dedicated himself to teaching at the Hosei University of Tokyo.
