Heinz Ulrich
Heinz Ulrich (1942–) is a Swiss designer best known for co-creating one of the most celebrated works in the history of Swiss design: De Sede’s DS-600 “Snake” sofa, designed in 1972 in collaboration with Ueli Berger, Eleonore Peduzzi-Riva, and Klaus Vogt. It was an innovative modular “serpentine” seating system that could, in principle, be extended indefinitely—hence its nicknames “Endless Sofa” and “Non-Stop Sofa.” Despite his role in this major success, Heinz Ulrich chose not to pursue product design full time and instead focused on furthering his architectural training at the Zurich School of Applied Arts. He later went on to lead the interior design department at Swiss television.
