SH900 Extend Table

*Price valid for the version with top and base in soap oak (cod. SH900)
The Carl Hansen SH900 table was designed by the creative duo Strand + Hvass, who created its essential structure and utterly simple forms. Extend represents a new era of Danish modernism, where the overall composition aims not only for beauty, but also for functionality. Beyond elegant, Extend is a stable and solid table, ideal for dining rooms and convivial settings where a reliable piece is needed. Its distinctive mechanism allows it to be extended by inserting two additional elements that, like wings, replace the wooden top, offering a larger surface area. Carl Hansen offers this piece for the dining room, although it can easily adapt to a variety of settings.

Carl Hansen & Søn was founded in 1908 on the Danish island of Funen, under the aegis of the eponymous cabinetmaker Carl Hansen. Since its foundation, the small cabinetmaking workshop has experienced rapid success due to the high quality craftsmanship of its furniture as well as the foresight of its founder, responsible for the establishment of many fruitful collaborations with world-renowned designers. The growth of Carl Hansen & Son was deeply influenced by the long-term collaboration with one of the greatest designers of all time: Hans J. Wegner. This creative synergy began in 1949, when Holger Hansen, son of Carl Hansen, attempted the fate with the unknown designer. From that moment,Wegner designed a series of successful furniture, including the now iconic Wishbone Chair.Read more

Strand + Hvass
Strand + Hvass is a Danish design studio founded in 1998 in Copenhagen by Christina Strand (1968-) Niels Hvass (1958-). Niels Hvass, the older of the two, had gained a good reputation between the late 1980s and early 1990s as a “young rebel” of Danish design thanks to unconventional creations such as the Yesterday’s Paper armchair (1993), consisting simply of a stack of pressed newspapers in which the space for a seat had been cut out. A founding member of the OCTO design group, Hvass opened his own studio Hvass Design in 1990, initially working with brands attentive to the relationship between design and art such as the Swedish brand Källemo. Towards the end of the 1990s, thanks also to the contribution of Christina Strand, his creative sensibility began to orient itself towards choices dedicated to a wider market, with forms increasingly oriented towards minimalism and functionality. This is how important partnerships were born with Danish brands specialized in the outdoor sector such as Cane-line and Skagerak (now acquired by Fritz Hansen) and collaborations with brands that are highly appreciated in their homeland such as Carl Hansen & Søn, Magnus Olesen, Andersen Furniture and many others.Read more
