Between art and design, Fluxus-E is a lamp that seems to challenge conventions, projecting new technologies and taste into our era and above all into the world of high-end design. Signed by Paolo Ulian, it pays homage to Barone Bic, inventor of the most famous pen in the world which enriches all the desks in the world. The structure of Fluxus-E is composed of a series of borosilicate glass tubes reminiscent of those of the Bic pen, configurable in different ways to evoke a flower now closed, now open. The technology used is that of LED light which illuminates both the central body of the lamp and the peripheral air, with small LED spotlights positioned under each individual tube to project a diffused light inside.

Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more

Paolo Ulian
Paolo Ulian (1961–) is a highly regarded Italian designer. Versatile and inventive, he has achieved some of his most significant results in projects centered on marble, which he interprets and shapes into surprising textures with the technical mastery of a sculptor from another era. Marble is, in a sense, inscribed in his personal history: born in Massa, he approached the world of design through his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, a region at the heart of Italy’s marble industry. Emblematic of this strand of his practice are his collaborations with the brand Antoniolupi, for which he created a series of highly theatrical monolithic washbasins, including the Introverso model, awarded a Wallpaper* Design Award in 2018. This piece has been the protagonist of striking performances in which the designer himself fragments the marble using a specially designed hammer, generating ever-changing forms. A key figure recurring throughout Paolo Ulian’s career is Enzo Mari, who can be considered his mentor in many respects. Ulian worked as Mari’s assistant between 1990 and 1992, and twenty years later it was Mari himself who consecrated his former student’s success by curating the major exhibition Tra gioco e discarica at the Triennale di Milano in 2010—the second solo exhibition entirely dedicated to Ulian’s work. The circle closed in 2020, when Paolo Ulian designed the exhibition layouts for the major retrospective devoted to Enzo Mari at the Triennale, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Francesca Giacomelli.
