Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more

Mikal Harrsen
Mikal Harrsen (1971–) is a Danish designer and co-founder, together with Adam Hall, of the MA/U Studio brand. Founded in Copenhagen in 2012, MA/U Studio specialized in modular systems and shelving with a clean, minimalist style, capable of turning structural elements such as support crossbars into abstract decorative accents that, in combination, created striking optical effects and ever-new geometric compositions. In 2017, following De Padova’s acquisition of MA/U Studio, Harrsen moved to Milan and began designing for other brands within the group as well, including Boffi and ADL. He later worked with a market leader such as Cassina to expand its scope of activity, introducing the company’s first collections of modular, configurable systems into its catalogue. He has also worked for the Danish companies Karakter and Copenhagen Bath, and for Design Editions—a brand he founded in 2019, specializing in the creation of design surface decorations for vertical applications.Read more
