Meshmatics was born from the hand of Rich Tegelaar who defines the refined imprint based on a surprising material, a thin metal mesh that, overlapped, manages to create a unique structure. This thin mesh allows the light to filter through without obstacles, diffusing a soft, smudge-free luminescence into the surrounding environment. The steel guarantees maximum strength and lightness, so that Meshmatics can be placed in any context desired, from the home to public areas such as lounges, restaurants and more.

Rick Tegelaar (1986–) is a Dutch designer. Born in Rotterdam, he studied in Arnhem, where his studio is also based. From an early age he showed a strong interest in design: he has said that he discovered his vocation by often playing with LEGO, a tool he still sometimes uses today, even as an established professional, to build scale models. Tegelaar enjoys working with unusual materials, and his creations often reveal a post-industrial aesthetic—cool yet elegant—capable of lending unexpected harmony to humble materials such as the metal mesh at the heart of his best-known design, the Meshmatics chandelier produced by the Dutch brand Moooi. Another of his iconic creations is the Tabby partition structure, self-produced and adaptable to different architectural contexts, whose woven framework is enhanced by long LED strips that create captivating plays of light.Read more
