Poltrona Frau
Pura Bowl
Price € 1,976.00
Pura is a bowl born from the collaboration between the furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau and the designer Angelo Mangiarotti. This fortunate union has led to the creation of an accessory that finds its perfect collaboration within the table, but that also lives perfectly in various other contexts such as living rooms, bathrooms, hallways and much more. The beauty of Pura comes from its asymmetrical shape that rests naturally on one side only. The marble it is made of is worked with numerical control and then hand-polished to give the whole a semi-gloss finish that preserves its natural appearance. On the lower part of the bowl there is a circular brass plate, Ruthenium finishes where the signature of the Maestro and the Poltrona Frau brand are indicated.

Poltrona Frau brings in any kind of environment, from home to office, its characteristic taste for leather-covered furnishings. The company grew out from the intuition of Renzo Frau who, moving in Torino, founded his workshop in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The Piedmont city was the ideal stage for the proposals of the young entrepreneur.
From the beginning, Poltrona Frau furnishings attract the attentions of the bourgeoisie and the Savoy Aristocracy, strongly fascinated by the international taste. The company’s collections embodied the timeless beauty of the Made in Italy design, despite a remarkable stylistic inflection in the Edoardian taste. In those years came to life iconic products such as the historic model 904, better known as Vanity Fair, the Chester armchair, which recalls the Chesterfield style, and the model 1919.Read more
Designed by
Angelo Mangiarotti
Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012) is one of the great protagonists of Italian design of the twentieth century. Born in Milan, he is one of the founding members of the Association for Industrial Design (ADI), from which he has been awarded a Compasso d'Oro for his career in 1994. He carries on in parallel throughout his life the activity of architect and designer and that of teacher, teaching in some of the most prestigious universities in the world. His career as an architect begins with a short but intense experience in the United States, where he get to know some of the world's leading architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Gropius. Back in Italy, he works for a few years in collaboration with Bruno Morassutti, signing popular projects such as the Casa a Tre Cilindri in the San Siro district in Milan. In addition to housing, Mangiarotti specialized in infrastructure architecture: many of the most important city stations in Milan bear his signature, such as those of Rogoredo and Porta Venezia. His main field, however, remains that of design, where he stands out for his great attention to the use of materials and functionality. He is a great lover of sculpture and art who has a strong influence in his creations, made for brands such as Artemide, Vistosi, Danese Milano and Skipper. Re-editions of his products appear today in the catalogs of brands such as Poltrona Frau and Karakter, while his most emblematic creations are re-proposed by Agape for the Agapecasa line.Read more
