Richard Hutten
Richard Hutten (1967-) is a Dutch designer best known for being one of the leading names in the Droog Design movement that brought Dutch design to new international prominence in the 1990s. His aesthetic is based on an exaggerated minimalism tinged with irony, well exemplified by his iconic Table Chair (1991, presented as part of his graduation project at the Design Academy in Eindhoven and then produced by Droog Design. The highly conceptual charge of his projects makes them a perfect example of “museum design”, ending up appearing in the collections of the MoMA in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and many others. However, Hutten has not shied away from the challenge of designing for industry: he was the artistic director of the Dutch brand Gispen for several years and has created products for brands such as Qeeboo, Danese Milano, Artifort, JCP Universe, Ghidini 1961 and many others. He has also collaborated in the past with large companies such as Moooi and Moroso.Read more
