Cassina

Salvioni is Cassina official dealer

Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design.

Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.

Cassina furnishings

In the fiery cultural excitement of the Second World War, Cesare Cassina met Vico Magistretti, to whom entrusted the creative direction of the company. In these years, the Architect designed the famous series of Carimate seats along with other iconic pieces such as Nuvola Rossa bookcase and 676 Maralunga sofa. By purchasing the rights to reproduce iconic pieces of the design history, the company lived a great phase of innovation ad growth.

The prestigious collection I Maestri reworked masterpieces of Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The LC series marked Cassina’s greatest success. The brand produced the LC4 chaise longue, the LC7 chair, the LC1 armchair and the LC2 and LC3 sofas designed by the Swiss Architect Le Corbusier along with Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret.
