Price starting from € 4,941.00*
*Price valid for the version with upholstery in fabric cat. E and frame in glossy stainless steel (cod. 8KRKPC01000).
The Peacock armchair by Cassina is based on Verner Panton’s original design from 1959, created as part of the pioneering Wire series, which broke decisively with the Scandinavian tradition of wood and immediately established itself as a distinctive expression of contemporary design. Its structure draws on the form of an inverted cone, held together by an electrowelded steel wire frame that opens out like a peacock’s tail, supporting seven round upholstered cushions. The base can be removed to transform the chair into an exceptionally comfortable rocking armchair. Available in a range of colours, Peacock can be easily coordinated with the many other designs in the Cassina collection.

Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more
Designed by
Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926-1998) has long been considered the enfant terrible of Danish design. His creations, visionary and colorful, have made the most of the characteristics of new materials such as plastic and polyurethane and have led the world of Scandinavian design into the future. Panton contributed more than any other designer to the constitution of Space Age design between the 1960s and 1970s. His creations, with bright colors and visionary shapes, are so iconic that they are still very current today. After starting his career as Arne Jacobsen's assistant, Panton toured Europe in his Volkswagen Transporter van and then settled in Basel. There began a long and fruitful collaboration with Vitra which resulted in several undisputed masterpieces such as the immortal Panton Chair, the first plastic chair in history made in a single piece. He also worked extensively with Louis Poulsen, the most important Danish brand in the lighting sector, and his creations also appear in the catalogs of brands such as & Tradition and Georg Jensen. His avant-garde installations were also famous, such as the surprising Visiona 2 created for Bayer at the Cologne Motor Show, or his as many futuristic interior projects, such as the headquarters of the newspaper Der Spiegel in Hamburg. After his death, the Verpan brand was founded in Denmark, dedicated to the reissues of some of his most famous creations.Read more
