Serge Mouille

Salvioni is Serge Mouille official dealer

Serge Mouille was founded in 1999 by Gin Mouille, the widow of the renowned designer Serge Mouille, a French silversmith and teacher globally recognized as one of the leading masters of 20th-century modernist lighting design. Today, the company is distinguished by its predominantly handcrafted, small-scale production process, standing in sharp contrast to mass industrial manufacturing, which often fails to ensure the same visual harmony and meticulous attention to detail in finishing. The production workshops are located just a few kilometers from Monthiers, in the very town where Serge Mouille settled in 1963.

The company’s production is still distinguished by the use of the original techniques employed by the designer himself to create his works. Moulds, proportions, and manufacturing methods are faithfully reproduced, preserving both the complexity of the craftsmanship and its inherent challenges. As a result, only a limited number of pieces are produced each year, each bearing a serial number and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, thus maintaining the exclusivity of a true work of art.

The company’s catalogue primarily focuses on reissuing the designer’s most iconic creations, with particular emphasis on the 1952 Les Formes Noires (“Black Forms”) collection. Defined by an essential and innovative aesthetic, these lighting pieces retain a strong personality despite the passage of time, appearing both almost anachronistic and remarkably contemporary. Among the most notable models are the ceiling lights, floor lamps, and wall lamps, all distinguished by their signature matte black exterior finish, glossy white lacquered interiors, and brass ball-joint articulations.

Salvioni Design Solutions has chosen to collaborate with Serge Mouille to enrich its catalogue with a collection of products whose distinctive character has remained unchanged over the years, faithfully preserving both the style and, above all, the craftsmanship techniques of the 1960s. This commitment to authenticity, combined with the company’s selective distribution strategy worldwide, makes each piece truly unique—a small testament to the exclusivity that luxury design should aspire to in order to preserve its excellence.
