The AB Dining table by Cassina was designed by renowned Dutch designer and artist Aldo Bakker and is part of the Karakter x Cassina collection. It embodies a concept of “silent architecture,” positioned somewhere between functional furniture and art sculpture, and was originally conceived as an evolution of the iconic AB Console, designed in 2017. The design focuses on absolute formal purity, expressed through matte, uniform finishes that minimize visual contrasts and transform the table into a solid, monolithic form. The upper surface of the wooden tabletop is flat, while its lower edge is chamfered and rounded, creating an interplay between concave and convex surfaces. The elliptical legs convey a sense of solidity and a striking visual presence.

From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more
