The Bramante sideboard is conceived as a storage unit with extremely modern lines. It has become the symbol of the collection Ultrarazionale by Cassina thanks to the illusory contrast with the classical inspiration – leading Kazuhide Takahama to design the sketch in 1974 – and to the adoption of an ancient technique of industrial lacquering. Bramante stands out in any home areas due to its strong architectural appearance and exceptional versatility, enriched even more after its revision in 2019 which kept unchanged the shape and the sizes, though renovating deeply the building frame by removing the modules. The final result is a more contemporary structure, rich and bright thanks to the new inner Led lighting and continuous glass shelves. The handmade finishings of Bramante enhance the surfaces with several layers of lacquering which highlight its amazing artistic quality and preciousness.

Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more

Kazuhide Takahama
Kazuhide Takahama (1930-2010) was a Japanese designer and architect. He got his first important assignment at the age of 27, shortly after graduating in architecture in Tokyo: in 1957 he was in fact commissioned to create the Japanese pavilion at the XI Triennale in Milan, Japan's first participation in the event. He then had the opportunity to travel to Italy where a life-changing meeting took place, the one with the visionary entrepreneur Dino Gavina. The result was a friendship and an intense professional exchange that lasted throughout his career and that convinced him in 1963 to move to Bologna, the city where he remained for his entire life. He has designed products for all the companies led by Dino Gavina: Gavina (later sold to Knoll), Simon (now incorporated by Cassina) and the Paradisoterrestre gallery. Other collaborations worthy of mention are the one with the furniture giant B&B Italia, for which he designed the Olinto bookcase system, or with lighting brands such as Sirrah and Nemo. He too worked a lot as an architect, especially in Bologna, where he created the facade of the city airport and all the bus shelters scattered around the city.Read more
