Broken Mirror Mirror

*Price valid for the version with frame in grey polyurethane (cod. G30100).
The Broken Mirror by Gufram, designed by the New York–based studio Snarkitecture, reinterprets the idea of rupture by turning it into a poetic gesture. Its wide reflective surface is framed by an irregular soft-touch polyurethane border, sculpted to resemble a monumental crack, as if the wall had been split by an impact frozen in time. The material illusion and visual tension typical of Snarkitecture create a sculptural object that merges art, design, and domestic theatricality. Iconic and surprising, it brings a striking, stage-like presence to any interior, altering the perception of space.

Irreverent and iconoclastic, Gufram is undoubtedly the most anti-conformist brand of the Italian design scene. Its furnishings are famous for their light-hearted taste, always rich with their ironic touches and strongly influenced by the artistic avant-garde. They constitute real sculptures of the Pop Art style. The bright and vibrant colors, the fanciful shapes and the continuous ability to reinvent their own icons, make sure that Gufram furniture will always be noticed. Several Gufram pieces are in the collections of the most important design museums in the world, such as the MoMA in New York or the Center Pompidou in Paris.Read more
Designed by
Snarkitecture
The practice of Snarkitecture, founded in New York in 2008 by artist Daniel Arsham (1980–) and architect Alex Mustonen (1981–), operates at the intersection of multiple disciplines. In their projects, art, architecture, and design merge to give the spaces they transform an unexpected and disorienting character, in many ways reminiscent of the principles of Land Art. These qualities are clearly evident in projects such as Drift, the pavilion created in 2012 as a monumental entrance for Design Miami, covered with hundreds of white inflatable tubes, or The Beach, the installation that in 2015 took over the main hall of the National Building Museum in Washington, transforming it into a surreal beach complete with umbrellas, deck chairs, and a “sea” made of translucent balls in which visitors could dive and play. In the field of furniture design—often produced as unique pieces or limited editions—the studio frequently explores the theme of fracture. In many of its best-known works, materials appear cracked or jagged, with irregular edges as if damaged by an external force, creating an effect that is at once natural and unsettling. Among the brands with which Snarkitecture has collaborated are the Italian company Gufram, producer of their iconic Broken mirror, and the Finnish brand Made by Choice. Alongside his work with Snarkitecture, Daniel Arsham has also pursued a highly successful independent career in the art world. His works often draw on the visual language of classical art, confronting it with themes of erosion and decay brought about by time, in a suggestive exercise of “imaginary archaeology.” He has also created his own line of furniture, characterized by fluid, deconstructed forms, presented exclusively in 2019 by the New York gallery Friedman Benda.Read more
