The Elica table lamp by Martinelli Luce, designed by Brian Sironi, is a project born from the encounter between formal experimentation and functional research. Its name recalls the movement and lightness of a propeller, evoked by a dynamic luminous body capable of directing light directly and precisely. Elica interprets the lamp as an interactive object, where the user actively determines the layout and intensity of the lighting. The essential, almost graphic design highlights the structure and design process, reducing the object to the essence of its function. Ideal for desks and worktops, Elica combines technology and expressive simplicity, reflecting the contemporary approach of Martinelli Luce, which has always focused on transforming innovation into aesthetic quality and everyday use.

With over seventy years of activity behind him, Martinelli Luce stands out as one of the great names in the history of design lighting in Italy. His fortunes are closely linked to those of the founder, the indefatigable Elio Martinelli, who personally designed many of the products in the catalog, including the famous Cobra and Serpente lamps. With simple and avant-garde shapes, inspired by nature or suggested by the application of new technologies, Martinelli lamps appear in the permanent collections of many design museums. The most famous is the Pipistrello lamp by Gae Aulenti, a timeless icon.Read more

Brian Sironi
Brian Sironi (1977–) is an Italian designer who received the Compasso d’Oro in 2011 for his Elica lamp, designed for the Tuscan brand Martinelli Luce. Born in Seregno and educated at the Politecnico di Milano, Sironi is strongly influenced by his relationship with his native Brianza region, an area rich in manufacturing enterprises with which he has closely engaged. This context has shaped a design approach that is markedly functionalist and highly attentive to the relationship between object and user. He has maintained a long-standing professional relationship with the bathroom furnishings brand antoniolupi, for which he has designed several accessories and complementary products. Another of his well-known designs is the Multidot chandelier, a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional chandelier, also created for Martinelli Luce and awarded an Archiproducts Design Award in 2023. Over the years, Sironi has also collaborated with brands such as Stilnovo, Ichendorf Milano, and JEE-O.Read more
