The Bascule armchair by Vitra is a revolutionary lounge chair that combines the relaxed aesthetic of haute couture with cutting-edge motion engineering. Designed by Studio Œ, it differs from other reclining armchairs equipped with heavy and complex manual levers, as it is designed to adapt automatically to the user’s weight and movements. Its name derives from the French term “bascule”, directly referring to the technological core of the design, which is patented by Vitra. Bascule responds naturally to movement, smoothly accompanying the user from an upright seated position to a deep recline, almost completely horizontal.
