The history of Gloster was born in 1960 in Africa and is closely linked to the art of working natural teak, a particular type of wood originally present in only four countries in the world: Burma, Laos, Thailand and India. Today the growing diffusion of teak plantations has made it possible to exploit its peculiar properties of resistance, flexibility and malleability which make it perfect for the creation of interior and exterior furnishings, capable of adapting to different environments and the most difficult climatic conditions. Gloster is now famous for its outdoor collections, capable of communicating an elegant style with attention to detail.Read more
Designed by
Henrik Pedersen
Henrik Pedersen (1967-) is a Danish designer who holds the role of artistic director of the Gloster brand, specialized in outdoor furniture. Trained as a fashion designer but also active for several years in the field of packaging and furniture, he was called to Gloster in 2014 by the then CEO Svend Loevbjerg, a fellow citizen of Pedersen in the city of Aarhus who chose him to modernize the style of a brand that remained anchored to rather traditional forms. Pedersen's style is perfect for the relaunch, thanks also to his strong instinct for forms with easy commercial success: sober and rational, far from excesses of minimalism without giving in too much to superfluous decorative frills, he is very skilled at keeping the brand's identity well defined around an idea of high craftsmanship that is perfectly functional without giving up a certain amount of charm. Henrik Pedersen founded the studio 365° North in Aarhus and has also worked with several other high-end brands such as Dedon, Wendelbo, BoConcept, Houe, Feelgood Design and Design Within Reach, creating many outdoor projects as well as furniture for the entire home.Read more
