La Permanente Mobili Cantù
TN55 Sofa
The TN55 sofa was conceived by Japanese designer Taichiro Nakai, who presented it in 1955 at the first edition of the Selettiva del Mobile exhibition in Cantù, alongside the TN55 coffee table. Together, these two pieces embody a synthesis of the simplicity of Japanese minimalism and the excellence of Italian cabinetmaking craftsmanship in the mid-20th century. The TN55 features an organic form defined by fluid lines, distinguished by its asymmetrical silhouette, in which the upholstered backrest extends along the geometric seat, creating a sophisticated visual contrast. The structure is supported by elegant turned, tapered wooden legs, secured with steel brackets available in a range of finishes. Today, the sofa is available as a re-edition by the La Permanente Mobili Cantù consortium, as part of the historic Selettiva for All collection.
