The Sanluca armchair is the result of the design of Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni whose genius has concentrated on reducing and literally emptying the traditional padding of this padding to reach the "strictly necessary" curves for the best support. The result obtained is one of the most successful examples of conceptual design, a perfect summary of what an armchair should be to satisfy the desire for comfort, aesthetics and simplicity. Ergonomic and avant-garde, Sanluca has a double profile of great formal power, which envelops the body and supports it also thanks to the support of the Luca pouf, optional but great for enjoying the full comfort of this piece of furniture.

The company grew out from the intuition of Renzo Frau who, moving in Torino, founded his workshop in the late 19th and 20th centuries. From the beginning, Poltrona Frau furnishings attract the attentions of the bourgeoisie and the Savoy Aristocracy, strongly fascinated by the international taste. Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002) was one of the most important and celebrated masters of Italian design of the twentieth century. With a playful and curious temperament, he has also brought these characteristics into his creations, always full of brilliant intuitions resulting from a strong ability to observe the behavior of people and their relationship with objects. Son of the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni, he worked for the entire first part of his career alongside his brother Pier Giacomo (1913-1968), with whom he co-signed all his creations until the latter's death in 1968. Among his associations more fortunate were those with Flos, a company with which he collaborated since the foundation and with which he revolutionized the concept of domestic lighting, with Zanotta, who supported him in his most daring experiments, with De Padova, with whom he carried out many projects in recent years. of his life, and with Alessi.
