Cesta Table Lamp

The Cesta table lamp by Santa & Cole is probably the most famous product in the brand's entire catalog and, probably, the most known lamp in the entire history of Spanish design. Conceived by the Catalan designer Miguel Milá in 1962, the story of its birth is curious and fascinating: Milá in fact drew inspiration from an opaline globe found by chance outside a glass factory during a walk in Barcelona and decided to take it home to give it a new life. He then inserted it into a bentwood harness, similar to the one still in use today, and made it into a table lamp. Practical and easy to move thanks to the large handle above it, Cesta later began to be mass-produced by Santa & Cole, also giving rise to a large family of lamps characterized by different finishes.
