The Paradise Bird armchair was designed in 2020 by the Italian designer Luca Nichetto. The inspiration for this design piece comes from antique birdcages, featuring a basket-like structure composed of a metal framework made of slender yet sturdy steel rods. Rising from the base, these rods envelop the seat, serving simultaneously as structural support and backrest. The tribute to the architectural language of Josef Hoffmann—a defining characteristic of much of Wittmann’s collection—is evident in its pronounced geometric forms. These are softened by Nichetto’s contemporary interpretation, making the piece more versatile and suited to modern interiors. The choice of metal for the frame creates a striking contrast with the generously upholstered cushions, resulting in an armchair that conveys both a cool, refined aesthetic and a welcoming sense of comfort.

Wittmann was founded in 1896 as a company specializing in the production of saddles, later transforming into a furniture manufacturer. In 1950, it changed its identity, becoming a full-fledged manufacturer of home goods. Its catalog included handmade chairs, sofas, beds, and mattresses. Over time, Wittmann expanded its business, always keeping management in the hands of the original family but expanding the quality and strength of its brand to become a true international player.Read more
Designed by
Luca Nichetto
Luca Nichetto (1976-) is perhaps among the great contemporary Italian designers the one with the most international approach. He lives in Stockholm and runs his studio there, proposing his fresh and functional style through collaborations with many brands around the world: from Scandinavia to Spain, from France to Italy, for him, design has no borders. Yet in all this he brings with him a very strong territorial imprinting: he was in fact born and raised in Murano and there he took his first steps as a designer, already collaborating at the age of 23 with the historic Salviati furnace, and maintains a very strong bond with the glass design. The brands with which he has collaborated range from big names to emerging and trendy realities: Kristalia, Foscarini, Molteni & C., Sancal, Cassina, Gallotti & Radice, La Manufacture Paris, Arflex, Ethimo, Casamania, Offecct, Moooi and many others. He also collaborates with Hermès for the creation of the windows of its boutiques.Read more
