IMM Cologne 2020 – Cassina reveals the new Outdoor collection
During this IMM Cologne 2020 Cassina presented Cassina Perspective Goes Outdoor, a new outdoor collection designed to furnish living and dining environments in a complete way, combining the innovation of new products and the icons of the Modern to give life to original and highly valuable configurations composition.
The company’s outdoor proposal, already presented in 2011 with the LC Collection, has been enriched here thanks to the prestigious contribution of architects and designers Rodolfo Dordoni, Philippe Starck and Patricia Urquiola. The choice of colors, warm and welcoming, best enhances the three-dimensionality and the elaborate jacquard patterns of this new collection.
Philippe Starck’s Fenc-e-Nature consists of an armchair, a two or three-seater sofa and a two-height coffee table strongly characterized by organic, almost primitive forms and material elements.
“With Fenc-e Nature I created something that doesn’t exist; something between daily do-it-yourself and Duchamp’s Ready Made. It does not seem to have been made by a factory, and transfers humanity, charm, poetry, creativity and nature to the house “. Philippe Starck
The Sail Out outdoor sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni takes inspiration by the spirit of the 1950s holiday, in order to create a modular upholstery vaguely similar to inflatable mattresses in canvas. In addition to Sail Out, Dordoni also offers the Dine Out stackable armchair, made of solid teak wood and the Dine Out round table whose base consists of a single conical shape on which a top in different finishes is then placed.
“Today, outdoor furniture is no longer just performing, it also has an aesthetic need. Sail Out is an upholstered sofa with a strong modularity, it is extremely flexible, with an ironic temper.” Rodolfo Dordoni
With Trampoline, Patricia Urquiola interprets the happiness of the outdoor life of small private paradises. Her love bed features soft and playful shapes combined with an unparalleled feeling of comfort accentuated by the possibility of choosing between a simple island version and a canopy one that allows to shelter from the sun.
“During a trip to Greenland I noticed these small trampolines in front of the locals’ houses. This playful jumping mat inspired me to design Trampoline, a nice refuge to enjoy the outside in great comfort. ” Patricia Urquiola
Cassina has been able to combine the proposals from the past with the new outdoor novelties, giving life to an outdoor version of the famous Doron Hotel armchair by Charlotte Perriand which can be combined with the Interchangeable Table à Plateau currently present in the Collection Cassina i Maestri now developed for the external environment.
For the 2011 LC Collection by Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, Perriand, Cassina has also thought of a new range of fabrics and finishes capable of enhancing the stylistic value for living and dining environments. The great classics such as the LC1 armchair, the LC3 armchair and sofa, the LC6 dining table, the LC7 swivel armchair, the LC8 swivel stool and the LC10 – P low tables find here new value and luster, ready to support the new and very rich outdoor offer by Cassina Perspective.
